Brief-Team Tennis Rules:
Northern Virginia Junior Team Tennis plays 2 out of 3, four game-no advantages sets (at 3 all play a set tiebreak), with a super tiebreaker in lieu of a third set (Tiebreakers – set tie breaker is traditional 12pt tiebreak first to 7 by 2 wins, switch sides every six points. Super match tiebreaker is the first team to get to 10 by 2, switch sides at 6 points). A five minute warm up is permitted before play. For outdoor play, change overs are on odd games; for indoor play change sides is on end of sets. Players have 90 seconds allowed before the next game begins and 20 seconds are allowed in between service points. Only one boy and one girl may play twice in a team match, no more. All team matches are determined by game count.
Whereas, the format and rules for the single gender-neutral league team match consist of 4 rounds of one singles and one double; one set (6 games, no-ad scoring, with a regular game played at 5-5 and on serve, no tiebreakers).
Before And During Matches:
A Team can not warm up before the match if they are early unless they have purchased court time for their teams. If the facility is nice enough to let you warm up without paying then both teams have to be there to agree upon warming up together. One team cannot warm up without the other team. Warm ups have to be a mutual agreement. Same rule applies to in between matches. If singles play finishes early and both doubles teams are there to warm up and everyone has agreed to warm up together then you may due so. If one team has arrived and other has not you may NOT warm up. Both teams have to be in agreement.
All teams must start their matches on the hour. If singles play ends early teams are to wait until on the hour to start their matches.

TARDINESS FOR MATCHES AND INCLEMENT WEATHER
All teams should show up 15 minutes early to matches. Based on the scheduled match time, use the times below to enforce penalties:
- 1-5 min late = loss of toss for serve
- 5.01-10 min late = loss of one game and of toss for serve
- 10.01-15 min late = loss of 2 games and toss for serve
- 15.01 min late = default of match
